Introduction

We were so happy that you could come to our wedding on 6th September 2009 - you all made it such a special day and we'd like to thank you all so much for coming.

Hotel information

There are a number of hotel's near the church where you could stay.

We would recommend the Hotel Pentelikon (Pentelikon website), where we will be staying, and where the reception will be held. We have secured a room rate of &euro 170 per night for an executive (double) room at the Hotel Pentelikon (a little expensive but &euro 100 off the usual rate!).

To make a booking please contact the hotel on:

and state that you are booking for the Zographos wedding (for once my name is more convenient than Paul's!) - that way you will get the reduced rate.

We have also liaised with the Best Western - Hotel Caterina (!) (which is actually a little closer to the Church and an easy distance from the Pentelikon) which is slightly cheaper. The hotel is currently being refurbished and the website does not provide much information, but I am assured it will be open by September! They have sent the following picture:

We have agreed the following room rates (weekend rates hold for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights)

GROUP

Room type Weekday rate Weekend rate
Standard rooms (1 pax) &euro 130 &euro 115
Executive rooms (1-2 pax) &euro 145 &euro 130
Deluxe rooms (1-3 pax) &euro 160 &euro 145

To make a booking please contact the hotel Caterina at: info@hotelcaterina.com Fax:+30-210-801-5218 and state that you are booking for the Zographos wedding so that you can get the reduced rate. You will need to provide credit card details as a booking guarantee.

There are also a number of other hotels nearby:

I did a quick search on the Internet and found that on some booking websites you could get rooms for 120 - 130 pounds, but am not sure if there are any added charges that come through when you book.

We have pulled together a rough map (click on the image to get a larger version!) to show you the location of the church and some of the hotels. It will give you a sense of the area, although you might find that some of the hotels are on the opposite side of the road to where they are shown on this map! For those interested the Theoxenia, which is not shown, is just behind the Kefalari Suites.

Flights

There are 4 airlines that fly direct to Athens:

Getting from the airport

The easiest way to get from the airport to the hotel is to get a taxi which should take about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) and cost approximately &euro 30. Alternatively you can take the airport bus to the centre of Kifissia and a taxi from there (it is a little too far to walk with luggage) or the train/metro to Kifissia station (Suburban line from airport to Neratziotissa and then change to line 1 - ISAP) and a taxi from there. More information about getting to and from the airport is available here

Church information

Our wedding will take place at the Metamorphosi tou Satiros Church, Kifissia at 7.30pm on Sunday 6th September.

The church is walking distance from the hotel where we will be holding the reception after the wedding - the Pentelikon hotel.

Trip to the Acropolis - Saturday 5th September

Our Koubara (equivalent to best women!), Mara, who is a tour guide, has kindly offered to organise a tour of the Acropolis and the new Acropolis museum.

We are proposing to meet at the Hotel Pentelikon at 12 noon before getting the Metro to the centre of Athens. Before going to the Acropolis we thought we would go for lunch close by.

Please let us know ( email ) by 1st September if you want to join us for the tour, as we would like to get the tickets in advance.

Dinner on Saturday

We would love to see you all before the wedding, so we are suggesting that we meet up for dinner (at about 8pm) and drinks on the Saturday evening. We have not decided on the venue yet, but will make sure it is somewhere we can all walk to!

Sightseeing

Acropolis (Parthenon)

Museum's in Athens For those of you who's hunger for museums goes beyond the Acropolis (and there are plenty more to see!), then here is some information regarding other museums that may be of interest:

Of course, museums are not the only attractions in Greece (far from it!), so for those of you looking for something different, the Athens Info Guide provides an excellent list of places to visit, so if you're looking for some great places to see then why not take a look!
